Which Vscan Air is better for vascular medicine – CL or SL?

Both models are suitable for vascular medicine, as each contains a linear probe (3–12 MHz) for vessels close to the surface. The Vscan Air SL combines this with a sector probe for cardiac assessments – ideal for cardiovascular work. The Vscan Air CL also offers a curved probe for deep abdominal vessels such as the aorta.

Can I diagnose deep vein thrombosis (DVT) with Vscan Air?

Yes, Vscan Air can be used to assess deep vein thrombosis by means of compression sonography. The linear probe shows the veins close to the surface. If a vein cannot be compressed, this is considered a sign of thrombosis. Studies prove the suitability of mobile ultrasound devices for DVT diagnostics at the point of care. If the findings are unclear, further clarification is useful.

Does Vscan Air support Doppler measurements for vascular examinations?

Yes, Vscan Air supports color Doppler to represent flow direction and conditions in vessels. The Vscan Air SL also offers pulsed wave Doppler for quantitative flow measurements. This allows vascular examinations such as the assessment of stenosis or flow profiles to be carried out at the point of care – wirelessly and directly on the patient with their own mobile device.

Is Vscan Air suitable for ultrasound-guided vascular access?

Yes, Vscan Air is suitable for ultrasound-guided vascular access. The linear probe displays vessels and puncture needles in real time and facilitates the safe insertion of peripheral and central accesses. The wireless design allows free handling during the puncture. In this way, the first puncture rate can be increased and the risk of complications can be reduced compared to the puncture by landmarks.

How is the secure DICOM data transmission carried out in vascular diagnostics?

Vscan Air securely transmits images to PACS systems via DICOM, including Modality Worklist, Store to PACS and Storage Commitment query. Wireless data transmission is encrypted, and secure DICOM with peer authentication is available. This means that patient data remains protected even during vascular diagnostics and can be seamlessly integrated into existing clinical documentation systems.
